Viele die Rang und Namen in der internationalen Leichtathletik haben, sind angekündigt. Über 5000m der Frauen spricht Genzebe Dibaba von einem Weltrekordversuch. Celliphine Chepteek Chespol (Jg. 99 / KEN) gewann die 3000m Hindernis trotz Einrichtung des Schuhes beim vorletzten Wassergraben und 2-3s reinem Zeitverlust in 8:58,78. Gesa Felicitas Krause lief in 9:20,32 auf Rang 7. Katarina Molitor warf den Speer auf 60,91m und belegte Rang 8. Genzebe Dibaba verpasste den 5000m Weltrekord siegte aber in starken 14:25,22.
