The course takes you through the iconic sights of Southsea and Portsmouth, including the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, home of HMS Victory, past Spinnaker Tower, and finishes on the seafront with beautiful views of the Isle of Wight. And it isn’t just about the main event – the Simplyhealth Great South Run 5k and Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great South Run take place on Saturday 21 October, so there’s some for all levels of fitness and all members of the family.

Das Rennen hat nach den Ausfällen von Haile Gebrselassie und Jo Pavey zumindest die großen Namen verloren. Commonwealth Marathonsieger Michael Shelley steht aber zumindest noch gegen Vizeeuropameister über 10000m Andy Vernon am Start. Nun ist auch das komplette Elitefeld verfügbar. Interessant könnten vor allem auch die Leistungen von Marathoneuropameister Danielle Meucci und Zane Robertson werden. Auch der Ire Mick Clohisey, der öfter in Österreich am Start war/ist?, ist am Start.
Bei den Frauen darf man wie beim Great Birmingham Run auf ein Duell von Linet Masai gegen Polline Wanjiku gespannt sein. Hinzu kommt noch z.B.: die starke Britin Gemma Steel. Sehr interessant ist vor allem auch der Start von Priscah Jeptoo, die laut letsrun.com Anfang Oktober ihren New York Start absagte.
