Am Sonntag Abend mitteleuropäischer Zeit findet in Stanford das Prefontaine Classic zum ersten Mal statt, da sich das Hayward Field derzeit im Umbau für die WM 2021 befindet. Die drei Deutschen Konstanze Klosterhalfen (3000m), Gesa Felicitas Krause (3000m Hindernis) und Christina Schwanitz (Kugelstoß) stellen sich der internationalen Konkurrenz.
Mujinga Kambundji (100m) vertritt die Schweiz. Caster Semenya wird nach gewonnenen Gerichtsurteil (die IAAF hat bereits Protest eingelegt) über 800m antreten.
