Am Sonntag findet der London Marathon nun wieder zum ursprünglichen Frühjahrstermin statt. Kenenisa Bekele führt dabei das Feld laut Bestenliste an, 10 Herren unter 2:05 sind gemeldet. Bei den Frauen sind zwölf Läuferinnen unter 2:20 gemeldet unter anderem Weltrekordhalterin Brigid Kosgei. Sifan Hassan und Eilish McColgan oder auch Emile Cairess geben ihr Marathondebüt, Mo Farah verabschiedet sich. Tom Gröschel ist als einziger Deutschsprachiger Athlet im Elitefeld zu finden. Am Samstag gibt es ab 14:15 Uhr schon einen Vorbericht mit dem Titel „My reason to run“ auf BBC 1.
