In Birmingham wird am Samstag die fünfte Station der IAAF World Indoor Tour 2019 ausgetragen. Da in Österreich, der Schweiz und Deutschland, sowie einigen anderen europäischen Ländern die jeweiligen Staatsmeisterschaften ausgetragen werden, ist die hierzu Beteiligung eher gering. International hat das Meeting aber natürlich einiges zu bieten. Nachdem Yomif Kejelcha bei den Millrose Games den Meilenweltrekord nur um 1/100s verpasst hatte gibt es in Birmingham einen Angriff auf den 1500m Weltrekord (3:31,18 von Hicham El Guerrouj).
