Der Film wirft pünktlich zur Leichtathletik-WM in Tokio einen intensiven Blick auf einen bemerkenswerten Trend: Immer mehr Spitzenathletinnen und -athleten verlagern ihren Trainingsmittelpunkt in die USA, um dort unter neuen Bedingungen an ihrer sportlichen Entwicklung zu arbeiten. Im Mittelpunkt stehen drei prägende Gesichter dieser Bewegung: Der neue Deutsche Rekordhalter über 1.500 Meter, Robert Farken, die 3000m Hindernisläuferin Lea Meyer, sowie Mehrkämpfer Till Steinforth. Alle drei haben den Schritt über den Atlantik gewagt und sich in einem für sie neuen Umfeld eingerichtet.
