Nach der WM ist vor Weltklasse Zürich. Am Donnerstag gibt es das nächste Diamond League Meeting im ausverkauften Züricher Letzigrund. Am Mittwoch gibt es bereits den Stabhochsprung der Frauen im Züricher Bahnhof. Die 4x100m ÖLV-Frauenstaffel (Posch, Gogl-Walli, Pressler, Lindner, Schuler, Ersatz Standfest) ebenso. Magdalena Lindner (Union St. Pölten) und Isabel Posch (TS Lustenau) haben auch Startplätze im 100m Vorprogramm erhalten.

Auch die Diamond League 2018 geht dem Ende zu. Am Mittwoch gibt es im Züricher Bahnhof den Stabhochsprung und am Donnerstag endet die erste Hälfte der Diamond League bei Weltklasse Zürich im Stadion Letzigrund. Naturgemäß sind natürlich viele Schweizer, aber auch Deutsche Athleten auf der Meldeliste zu finden. Österreicher scheinen dieses Jahr nicht auf.

Die ersten Bewerbe der Diamond League 2017 werden hier in Zürich am Donnerstag abgeschlossen. Der zweite Teil wird am 1.9.2017 in Brüssel. Wer schon mal selbst bei Weltklasse Zürich zu Gast war, weiß die besondere Atmosphäre zu schätzen. Mo Farah bestreitet laut Ankündigung sein letztes Bahnrennen in Zürich.

Wie die Jahre zuvor bildet Weltklasse Zürich den Abschluss der Diamond League zumindest für die erste Hälfte der Bewerbe. Die zweite Hälfte und damit auch die Diamond League für 2016 wird am 9.9. in Brüssel absolviert.

Die erste Teil der Diamond League 2014 geht am Donnerstag im Stadion Letzigrund in Zürich zu Ende. Nach der EM wird man sehen, ob die Schweizer nach Verteuerung der Karten wegen der Sitzplatzvorschrift wieder ein volles Stadion und die üblich tolle Stimmung bieten können. „Zugpferd“ Usain Bolt hat ja kürzlich erst seine Saison beendet. Zürich meidet als einer der wenigen Veranstalter ehemalige Dopingsünder und somit wäre die Konkurrenz vermutlich auch überschaubar gewesen.
Als Freund der Mittelstrecke darf man sich auf einen spannenden 800er mit David Rudisha (600m Sieg gegen Kszczot in Birmingham), Nijel Amos (kürzlich von Niki Franzmair zur ALS-Ice-Bucket Challenge nominiert), Asbel Kiprop, Mohammed Aman, Ayanleh Souleiman und Adam Kszczot freuen. Auch der 1500er der Frauen, wie auch weitere Bewerbe, dürften wieder Spannung garantieren.

Für alle Spieler des Fantasy Diamond Race heißt also wieder mal richtig tippen.

Beim Weltklasse Zürich Meeting wird am Donnerstag dem 29.08.2013 die erste Hälfte der Diamond League Bewerbe beendet. Den zweiten Teil bildet dann das Meeting in Memorial van Damme Meeting in Brüssel am 06.09.2013, wo vermutlich auch Andreas Vojta (team2012.at) am Start stehen wird. Beim Abschlussbewerb werden doppelte Punkte vergeben.
Besonders interessant ist der 800m Bewerb der Frauen, denn durch den verletzungsbedingten Ausfall von Francine Niyonsaba hat theoretisch jede am Start stehende Läuferin noch die Möglichkeit sich den Diamond League Gesamtsieg über 800m zu sichern. Über die 100m steht wieder ein gewisser Usain Bolt am Start. Traditionell stark sind auch immer die 3000m Hindernis mit 2xKipruto, Kemboi, Mekhissi… Am Spannendsten ist aber vermutlich der 5000m Lauf der Frauen, wo sich endlich mal wieder Tirunesh Dibaba und Meseret Defar gegenüber stehen. Zwischen den Beiden geht es auch um den Sieg in der Diamond League. Interessant wird auch sein, was Jenny Simpson über die 5000m anbieten kann.

Zahlreiche Österreicher kämpften in der Schweiz gut mit – Hohenwarter gewinnt Jungfraumarathon!

Neben der bereits erwähnten Beate Schrott die bei der Weltklasse Zürich in 13,20s auf Rang 8 lief, war auch Jennifer Wenth über die 800m der U23 Klasse am Start. Wenth lief mit 2:08,74s auf Rang 5, aber nur 72/100 hinter der Siegerin ins Ziel.

Beim Jungfraumarathon war Andreas Vojta über die Meile im Einsatz. Nach Platz 5 im Vorjahr mit 4:35,75, belegte Vojta diesesmal Platz 6 mit 4:36,19. Bei den Frauen war Elisabeth Niedereder am Start und belegte in 5:03,99 Platz 14. Ein Zieleinlauf?-Video (Vojta, Niedereder) sollte später verfügbar sein.

Markus Hohenwarter gewinnt den Jungfraumarathon 2011 in 3:01:52,0 und schlägt damit die gesamte internationale Konkurrenz. Vermutlich gewinnt er mit 10.000 Schweizer Franken (ca. 8275 EUR) auch sein bislang höchstes Preisgeld!
