Trying to get by, he took a job at a local McDonald’s to support his comeback. Once his talent was rediscovered, Berian burst back onto the track scene and hasn’t looked back since. We follow his story of how he went from flipping burgers in Colorado to becoming an Olympian at the Rio Games.

Am Samstag geht es für die vierte Station der Diamond League 2016 über den Teich, nach Eugene zum Prefontaine Classic.
Nach der Vorstellung von Almaz Ayana in Rabat über 5000m darf man besonders gespannt sein, was Genzebe Dibaba zu bieten hat. Allerdings fehlt sie derzeit trotz Ankündigung vorige Woche auf der Startliste. Genzebe Dibaba sagte aufgrund einer Verletzung ihren Start ab.
Unabhängig davon werden natürlich besonders in Eugene auf viele spannende Entscheidung hoffen. Einige Bewerbe finden bereits am Freitag Abend (Ortszeit) statt. Deutschland wird durch Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch (Hochsprung), Gesa Felicitas Krause (3000m Hindernis), Thomas Röhler und Johannes Vetter (beide Speerwurf), sowie Nadine Müller, Julia Fischer und Shanice Craft (alle Diskuswurf) im Hayward Field vertreten sein.

Nachdem der ÖLV in Sopot vor zwei Jahren mit Andreas Vojta (team2012.at) und Beate Schrott (Union St. Pölten) noch zwei Starter bei der Hallen WM hatte, vertritt heuer „nur“ Stephanie Bendrat (Union Salzburg) Österreichs Farben. Mehrkampfrekordlerin Ivona Dadic (Union St. Pölten), die auf Rang 27 der Indoor und Outdoorbestenliste lag, wurde von der IAAF eingeladen, gab jedoch der Olympiavorbereitung den Vorzug.
Der Vorlauf von Stephanie Bendrat findet am Samstag ab 01:35 Uhr MEZ statt. Das Finale wäre um 04:30 Uhr MEZ.
